Centred, upright wicks in every jar

The Wick Helper is a jar-specific candle making tool that does two jobs in one: it helps place your wick in the centre of the jar, then holds it upright and steady while you pour and the wax begins to set.

This is the 180ml version of the Wick Helper, made for Apothecary Amber style jars with a 65.1mm outer top diameter.

Once the wick tab is bonded, remove the placement tube and leave the holder ring in place while you pour. The ring sits level on the jar rim and helps keep the wick centred through the pour and early setting stage.

Fits these jars

This is the 180ml version of the Wick Helper, and it fits:

180ml Apothecary Amber style jars65.1mm outer top diameter.

Suitable for wicks up to 2.8mm diameter. Very thick wicks may not fit.

Each Wick Helper is jar-specific. If it does not sit flat and level on the jar rim, stop and check the jar size before use. If you are unsure about your jar or wick, order a single sample before buying in bulk, or send us your jar and wick details before ordering and we’ll check for you.

Why it helps

Getting a wick centred and keeping it there is one of the fiddly parts of candle making. Wicks lean, twist, or drift off-centre while you pour, and pegs, pencils, or clips never quite hold them straight. An off-centre wick burns unevenly and makes a finished candle look rushed.

The Wick Helper handles both ends of the job. The placement tube guides the wick down to the centre of the base so the metal tab bonds in the right spot. The holder ring then keeps the wick upright and centred through the pour and early setting. Same result across a full batch, with less mess and less guesswork.

How to use it

Prepare the jar. Stand the jar on a flat, stable surface and make sure the inside base is clean and dry. Apply a wick sticker or glue dot to the metal wick tab.

Feed the wick through the holder ring.

Fit the placement tube Slide the Wick Placement Tube into the ring through the slot.

Secure the wick Centre the metal tab at the bottom of the placement tube, then pull the wick straight at the top and press it into the holding groove.

Set the ring on the jar Place the Wick Holder Ring onto the jar so it sits level on the rim.

Bond the wick tab Press the placement tube down to the base of the jar and hold for a few seconds so the adhesive bonds to the glass.

Remove the placement tube Lift the placement tube out carefully, leaving the wick secured in position.

Pour with the ring in place. Leave the Wick Holder Ring on the jar while you pour. It keeps the wick upright and centred as the wax goes in and begins to set.

Choosing your jar fit

The Wick Helper is sized to the outer diameter of your jar, so pick the fit that matches the jars you use:

If your jars sit between sizes, or you're not sure which you have, measure the outer diameter at the rim or send us a message before ordering.

What's included

1 × Wick Holder Ring — sits on the jar rim and holds the wick upright and centred while you pour and as the wax begins to set.

1 × Wick Placement Tube — slides through the ring and carries the wick down to the jar base so the metal tab bonds in the correct spot.

1 × Printed Instruction Guide — included with every order.

Good to know

This is a tool made from PETG thermoplastic material, not a heatproof one. We've tested it with hot water at 85°C without issue, but it's still a thermoplastic and shouldn't be treated as heat-resistant beyond that. Don't pour hot wax directly onto it — pour into the jar and avoid pouring over the holder ring. If wax does touch the tool, let it cool fully before cleaning. Wash with warm soapy water and a soft, damp cloth; it isn't dishwasher safe, and keep it away from solvents, heat guns, and flames. As a 3D printed product it has fine visible layer lines, which is normal and doesn't affect how it works.
