Helix Weave Sculptural Vase — Digital 3MF File

The Helix Weave is a sculptural vase built from two interwoven ribbons that spiral around a hidden inner vessel. Open, airy, and deliberately asymmetric from every angle, it works as a standalone display piece or holds flowers when paired with a glass insert.

Designed for FDM printers and optimised for vase mode, the file gives you fast, clean single-wall prints with no internal infill waste.

Why this design

Most printable vases are simple extrusions, a profile pulled straight up. The Helix Weave uses a twin-ribbon spiral that wraps the vessel, so the silhouette shifts as you walk around it. The cut-outs let light pass through and create strong shadow lines on a shelf or mantelpiece. It's a statement piece, not a filler.

How to print

Vase mode (spiralise outer contour) is the recommended setting. Standard mode also works if you want thicker walls, using 2–3 perimeters and 0% infill since the geometry is already hollow.

Supports are not required. The spiral overhangs are self-supporting at standard angles. Print upright, as modelled.

Matte PLA or PLA+ gives the cleanest finish. Silk filaments highlight the spiral ribbons for a more decorative look. The vase is not watertight straight off the printer, so use a glass test tube or small jar inside for fresh flowers, or keep it dry.

Good to know

This is a digital file for personal use. No commercial licence is available for this design. The model prints well at any scale from roughly 150mm to 300mm tall. If you'd prefer a ready-printed version, physical prints are available separately on request.
