Wick Helper Tool for Candle Jars & Tins

Getting the wick centred is one of those small candle-making jobs that can make a big difference to the finished candle.

The Wick Helper is designed to solve two common candle-making problems in one simple tool:

  • placing the wick tab in the centre of the jar or tin
  • holding the wick upright while the wax is poured and begins to set

Instead of using a separate wick setter, peg, pencil, clip, wick press tool or improvised holder, the Wick Helper gives you a repeatable way to position and support the wick during your pour.

It helps with cleaner wick placement, better candle wick alignment and a more consistent setup across repeat jars and tins.

It is especially useful for small-batch candle makers who want a practical way to keep the wick straight, reduce off-centre wicks and keep the wick upright while pouring.

Choose the correct jar, tin and wick fit

The Wick Helper is available in different sizes to suit containers with an outer top diameter from 58 mm to 80 mm, in 1 mm increments.

Please choose the correct version from the product options based on the outer top diameter of your jar or tin.

We strongly recommend measuring your container before ordering. Jar or tin capacity alone is not enough to confirm the correct fit, as containers with the same capacity can have different rim, neck or top diameters.

  • For most glass jars and metal tins, measure straight across the outside of the container at the top rim.
  • For threaded jars, including amber apothecary jars, measure across the outside of the neck including the thread.

For example, if the outer top diameter measures 70 mm, choose the 70 mm Outer Top Diameter Fit.

When unsure, send us your jar or tin supplier, a product link or a clear photo of your container with its measurements, and we’ll help you check before ordering.

If none of the listed sizes match your container, please contact us. We may be able to create a custom Wick Helper to suit your jar or tin.

Wick compatibility

Suitable for wicks with an outer diameter of up to 3.5 mm.

The Wick Helper is not suitable for wooden wicks.

Very thick wicks or unusual wick types may not fit the holding groove, so please check your wick size before ordering if you are unsure.

What makes it different

Many candle makers use one tool to place the wick and another tool to hold it in place.

The Wick Helper is designed to handle two key jobs:

  • Centre the wick tab accurately before pouring
  • Support the wick during the pour, helping keep it straight and secure

Because each version is made for a specific jar or tin size, it gives a more stable fit than a loose universal candle wick holder.

Why it helps

Wicks can shift, lean, twist, or end up slightly off-centre during candle making, especially when working through repeat batches.

The Wick Helper gives you a fixed reference point for both stages:

  1. Wick placement - The placement tube helps guide the wick tab down to the centre of the jar or tin base.
  2. Wick holding - The holder ring stays on the container while you pour, helping keep the wick upright and centred as the wax goes in.

This helps reduce guesswork and makes each jar or tin easier to set up consistently.

It is a useful candle making tool for anyone who wants a cleaner, more repeatable way to secure the wick, keep the wick straight and reduce off-centre wick placement.

What’s Included

Everything you need to prepare up to 10 jars or tins at the same time.

Set of 10+1

The Wick Helper set includes:

  • 10 Wick Holder Rings
  • 1 Wick Placement Tube
  • 1 printed instruction guide

Use the Wick Placement Tube to position the wick tab accurately in the centre of the container base.

The Wick Holder Rings then remain on the jars or tins during pouring, helping keep each wick upright and centred as the wax begins to set.

Ideal for regular batch making and preparing multiple candles in one session.

How it works

  1. Feed the wick through the holder ring.
  2. Slide the placement tube into position.
  3. Use the tube to press the wick tab onto the jar or tin base.
  4. Remove the placement tube.
  5. Leave the holder ring in place while pouring.

The holder ring helps keep the wick upright and centred while the wax is poured and begins to set.

Good to know

The Wick Helper is made from PETG thermoplastic.

To protect the tool, please avoid:

  • Direct heat
  • Open flames
  • Heat guns
  • Dishwashers
  • Solvents or harsh chemicals
  • Pouring hot wax directly onto the tool

If wax touches the tool, allow it to cool fully before cleaning.

Wash by hand using warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Store the tools flat in a cool, dry place when they are not in use.

Fine visible layer lines are normal on 3D-printed products and do not affect their intended use.

Colours may vary slightly due to lighting, screen settings and filament batches.

Each Wick Helper is printed to order and shipped from the UK.
