Straight, consistent labels without the guesswork

The Label Helper Tool is a practical jar and bottle label applicator designed to help small makers apply labels neatly, consistently, and with less frustration.

It works best with round or cylindrical jars and bottles between approximately 50ml and 500ml, with labels around 40mm or wider across the application direction. It also includes riser blocks for tapered jars where the bottom diameter is smaller than the top diameter, helping the container sit level in the cradle during application.

Place your container on its side in the cradle, set your label height, line up the label against the guide, then press and slide the label onto the container while gently rotating the jar. Once your height is set, you can repeat the same position across the rest of your batch.

Whether you’re labelling a small handmade batch or preparing products for sale, the Label Helper gives you a repeatable reference point so every label sits in the same place.

Works with

Suitable for many round or cylindrical containers, including:

  • Standard candle jars
  • Slightly tapered 20CL and 30CL (tested on Lotti/Karen style candle jars)
  • Reed diffuser bottles
  • Jam and preserve jars
  • Spice jars
  • Sauce bottles
  • Cosmetic, cream and skincare jars
  • Small tins and similar cylindrical containers

For unusual shapes, flat-sided containers, heavily tapered jars, or containers outside the recommended size range, send us a message before ordering and we’ll check it for you.

Why it helps

Hand-labelling can be frustrating. One label sits perfectly, the next one is slightly off, and before long you’re wasting labels or spending extra time trying to line everything up by eye.

The Label Helper gives you a repeatable height guide so each label can be applied in the same position across your batch. It helps reduce wasted labels, saves time during batch prep, and gives your jars, bottles and containers a cleaner, more consistent finish.

It is useful for small makers labelling candles, reed diffusers, jams, preserves, sauces, spices, skincare products, gift items, and other round containers by hand.

How to use it

  • Place your jar or bottle on its side in the cradle

Rest it securely against the rear wall so it stays steady while you apply the label.

  • Use the riser blocks if needed

For tapered jars where the bottom diameter is smaller than the top diameter, insert the riser blocks to help the container sit level.

  • Set your label height

Adjust the label guide using the rear metric scale, then tighten the locking screw lightly to hold it in place.

  • Line up your label

Position the label against the guide at your chosen height.

  • Press and slide the label onto the container

Start with the first edge, then smooth the label on in one controlled motion while gently rotating the jar as needed.

  • Repeat across your batch

Keep the same height setting to apply each label in a consistent position.

Label size guidance

The Label Helper works best when your label is around 40mm or wider across the application direction — shown in the guide images as the side that runs across the slide.

This gives the guide enough contact area to help keep the label straight while you press and slide it onto the container.

For round labels, the same rule applies. A diameter of around 40mm or more gives better contact during application.

Very narrow portrait labels under 40mm wide may be harder to apply cleanly, as they can lose contact with the guide while being applied.

Please see the label orientation guide images for a visual reference.

Not sure if your labels will work? Send us your label size and container diameter before ordering and we’ll happily check.

Choosing your hand orientation

The Label Helper is designed around your dominant hand — the hand you use to press and slide the label onto the container.

  • Right-handed version — The guide sits on the left side of the tool. Hold the tool steady with your left hand and use your right hand to press and slide the label onto the jar.
  • Left-handed version —The guide sits on the right side of the tool. Hold the tool steady with your right hand and use your left hand to press and slide the label onto the jar.

What`s included

1 × Label Helper Tool — physical jar and bottle label applicator, 3D printed from PLA (a lightweight, rigid plant-based thermoplastic, commonly made from renewable sources such as corn starch or sugar cane).

2 × Jar Riser Blocks — removable inserts for tapered jars where the bottom diameter is smaller than the top diameter. The riser blocks lift the narrower end so the container sits level in the cradle during label application.

1 × Printed Instruction Guide — included with every order.

Each Label Helper is printed to order and shipped from the UK.
